Instead of raiding our local orgs on the 18th AnonOrange is putting together a massive protest at Gold Base. We're trying to get >9000 anons, or at least 100 to come with us on this epic raid. People from all parts of california are welcomed to come down and join us, there are hotels/motels near Gold that you can stay at if you are traveling. Let me know if you want to come.

We're trying to send little Davey into a massive rage with this. Plus look at the bright side, we get to meet up with some new Anons, and totally throw off our local orgs with our absense. This is going to be epic guys lets go.

This MIGHT be a good idea, but it's a little too late to start planning it. The DC event needed months to plan.

Not many Anons, including myself, wanna go out there for a full day especially for a global!

Globals are for the public to get informed. There are no pedestrians in Gold.

Credit where credit is due. I got this info from a post made by blownforgood. The "security patterns" I have observed myself, and they are very strange. Not sure I should post exactly what goes on -- but they definitely beef it up (and try to be discreet at the same time, which doesn't work).

I CAN tell you that I've observed a person disguised as a homeless man (more than one, but only ever one at a time), with a large pack. He hangs out in front of AS on one of the benches. He thinks no one notices, but he's fiddling with equipment inside the pack -- there are dials, etc. I have observed this being done on more than one occasion. I don't know if it is someone hired by Scientology to record the conversations of passersby, or if it is someone from our government listening to what's happening inside. My guess is that it's the former, probably just more "security" for the paranoid tower-dweller.

The raid at Gold is not a Global.  The Global (just or the LA area) will be on Sunday.  That's all.   Gold needs to be raided on Saturdays.  Ask Chuck Beatty and others that have been there.

MOD EDIT: AO, please don't spread misinformation. The LA global will be on 10/18, that Saturday. Davey will be at Gold to prepare for IAS 2008.  He needs to be there for a couple of weeks.  That's why raiding Gold is so important.

Depending on where you live in the LA area, going to Gold is at most a 1.5 hour trip.   I'm baffled you say it needs a lot of planning.   We planned the last raid on Gold at 11 PM the night before !   We have 18 days before Oct 18, what's the problem ?   Just get a sign, a bottle of water and drive there.  It's preferable to rent a vehicle (minivan, large 12 person van, bus, whatever), just get your ass there to protest.

The public do need to get informed, but we reach a LOT more people by having popular YouTubes that will remain online forever.  100 people at Gold will be Epic and be seen worldwide.   

Besides, when you raid Gold the local public passes through Hwy 79 in front of gold at a rate of 3-4 per minute (at least, look at the videos).   Most people around there don't even know that Gold Productions is scientology and they need to be informed as well.

Raiding Gold is like raiding the Vatican.  It really upsets them and they will foot bullet themselves again.

You totally missed my point. I said if you wanted it to be an event where you had anons from across the country come, and have over 100 of them, it would take a few months of planning and notice. As well as I don't know any of the core anons in LA would be willing to drive out to gold, much less someone who attends monthly protests only out of convenience of it being in LA. I am just saying if you think you can get 100 people to show up to gold in 3 weeks, you will be utterly disappointed!

Also, as the mod said, the global is on a saturday, DO NOT MISINFORM people for your own cause.

How big a deal is it to make the Global on Sunday the 19th.  (For LA only)

Gold has to be raided on Saturdays, because there are more people on that day and they have to work outside.  Raids on Gold on Sundays are ineffective.

If you count all the people from LA/Pasadena/Tustin/Upland + some from San Diego and Vegas that told me they want to raid Gold, we can get 100 people.   I don't expect anyone to fly in for this raid, but will a little motivation and unity, we can raid Gold with HUGE effect while DM is there.

Once again, you missed my advice on how to plan a giant raid like this for optimal efficiency.

If it's such a big deal to you, AO, Why don't you have your Gold raids on the Sat before or the following Sat? Why is it so incredibly important that you MUST have it on the day YOU want it and globals be damned?

I have been to Gold 4 times now.  Besides the 18th, some other friends are planning a weekday raid on Gold and on the 11th.

As someone who has been to the Gold Base in Gilman Hot Springs numerous times (on both sides of the fence),  there are several reasons why picketing Gold on Saturdays is better than doing so on Sundays:  First, Saturday is the compound's clean-up day. Everyone at Gold, regardless of position or status has to pitch in and do menial labor sprucing up the base, including the mowing, landscaping and clean-up.  Even the Dwarf King works.. supervising & berating staff. Second, there is more vehicular traffic on Hwy 79 that cuts through the property.  Protesting on Saturday majorly fucks up their schedules particularly if you arrivve between 11:00 - 12:00pm (lunch hour). If there are even 3 protestors on Hwy 79, 400+ staff will be prevented from going to lunch until the protestors are confirmed to have left the area.

The downside to this is that if Gold personnel are aware of the picket beforehand (publicly announcing it on the forums), then protesting on Saturdays will have the same effect as doing so on Sundays because the staff will be secluded inside buildings so they can't be seen by the public. Like previous protests, there will be a smattering of personnel going about their business in the compound, mostly security staff.  The reason that the Sept. 6th raid garnered so much attention by Gold staffers is because they were totally caught off-guard with our suprise raid.

The benefits to protesting on Sundays, however, is that gives anons that don't have to work Sundays the opportunity to visit Gold. I encourage every anon to protest the base at least once because anons see for themselves DM's home at the $34 million facility in the desert and how the Scifags react to small protest groups.  It is a real eye-opener.

We are all adults here and are capable of making our own decisions. I am not taking a position on changing the day of the regional raid if it has been decided by the majority that the regionals should be in Los Angeles proper on Saturday.  If there are anons that don't agree with this, they can make their own decision on whether to abide by this schedule or go to Gold on their own.

Whereas, it would be great to see a large number of protesters there, last Saturday's raid with AnonOrange, Resistance, i'mglib & Casper proves it only takes a few people to shut down an entire compound.
