The beginning of the year has seen a surge in coverage relevant to Project Chanology. The tragic, fatal accident of John Travolta's son, Jett, has brought Scientology's medical abuses and false diagnoses to the forefront of the mainstream media and public's attention. Losing a child is a tragedy, but also an opportunity to shed some light on the dark secrets that Scientology has kept for all these years.

Please bring relevant signs and fliers! Informing the public about Scientology's medical abuses is very timely, but out of respect for the Travoltas, we ask that you refrain from bringing signs and fliers exploiting Jett's death. Mentioning his case in relation to the broader scope of medical issues and abuses within the church is fine, and you might find people to be very receptive to this conversation in light of recent events.

The 18th is currently a surprise - we will not be releasing the location or details until the 17th, at the global. What we have planned is so awesome, we are afraid that OSA will ruin it if they hear about it. Let's just say that you will be sadly disappointed if you do not attend, so save the date!

In response to many people asking for new and exciting raids, Anonymous will be protesting outside of the WISE Business Sterling Management in Glendale (350 West Arden Ave, Glendale, CA. ) at 2 PM on Saturday, January 10th. Sterling Management is a management consulting firm which offers owners of private-practice accounting, medical and dental practices and other similar businesses, training and implementation support programs based on the management techniques developed by L. Ron Hubbard. They are notoriously known and criticized for there "high-pressure sales tactics" (which includes stories of forcibly holding down clients until they cave in.) They implement many of Scientology's corrupt ethics programs and coerce all clients into taking Scientology courses. People who try to leave Sterling Management (and Scientology), have had Sterling go after them with legal suits and have had their dreams of owning their own businesses shattered. It's time that we at SoCalAnon make the public aware of one of Scientology's major front groups. It's also a great opportunity for us to finally reach out to the Glendale area.
Last, but not least, we've seen an awesome number of new sign ups to the website since the New Year, as well as some familiar faces resurfacing; we're glad to have you all!
For all of those who are new to the protests, here are a few pointers on staying safe and anonymous:
- Come to the protest in groups
- The metro system might have a bad rep, but is really useful coming to and from protests. Take it if you can!
- If at any time you are followed, dial 911 and find a safe populated spot to wait for the police to arrive, or head to the closest police station. Take a picture of the person following you.

- Understand what you are protesting! Many people on the street will be interested in what you have to say. Good talking points are: A religion that charges for services, Sea Org abuse, tax-exempt status, medical abuse, brainwashing and manipulation. If you're not sure about something, ask another anon for help!
- Bring a good attitude and expect to have fun! If you want to bring music that is fine, just make sure it is small and portable. Sealed water and snacks will always win you friends.
