FSC Cigarettes- Feeling sick lately?
I've been a smoker for over 10 years.
I know, I know, it's bad for you, yadda yadda...

But lately, for the past week or so, I've been having a strange reaction to my cigarettes.

My throat has been scratchy, my lungs feel heavy. I have a weird tasting coat in my mouth. I'm sneezing and every time I smoke, it hurts.

I thought "well, it must just be the lingering effects of the cold I had over the holidays"

Except today I found out about something called "FSC" or "Fire-Safe Cigarettes"

Apparently, these cigarettes have started being carried in 22 states across the U.S. and North Carolina seems to be the only one fighting it.
In the past few weeks, they've been shipping all over the U.S.

The point of these is that supposedly, when the cigarette doesn't get inhaled regularly as when someone is smoking, the cherry goes out to avoid accidental fires due to discarded cigarettes.

While the companies are claiming that everything's fine, more and more people are starting to report getting sick from their smokes.

Everyone seems to be complaining about the same symptoms.
-Sore throat
-Sore chest
-Heavy or fluid-filled lungs
-Sneezing
-Hoarse voice
-Weakness
-Headaches
-Dizziness
-'Dusty' or coated feeling in mouth
-Cigarettes taste sweeter

If you've been feeling these symptoms lately, check your cigarette pack. Look for the letters "FSC".
Mine was near the barcode.

Chances are, there is some sort chemical in it that's hurting us, but the company won't acknowledge it yet.
In the meantime, it looks like you've got 3 options.
-Start rolling your own cigarettes
-Quit
-Order your cigarettes online. There seems to be an online store in N. Carolina that's selling non-FSC smokes by the carton for about $35.

And pass on this info to anyone you know who smokes!

It's about as "easy" to quit.

Oh god, now you have me in rant mode.
Because quitting smoking isn't like "hey, don't eat that slice of pizza".

Just get addicted to something less damaging, like chewing gum.

 Shocked That's really spooky, I was having every symptom. It's why I quit smoking two months ago. I knew they were FSC's becuz I looked up why they were going out. What's kind of scary is that, though my symptoms have improved I still have alot of them. I thought it was just my meds or allergies, have you hear of the symptoms lasting for awhile after you quit?

L. Ron Hubbard's ashes were scattered in the ocean. By my reasoning, if we pee in the ocean were are litterally pissing on the grave of L. Ron Hubbard.

Foooooooooor example...
Fast food is unhealthy for you. It clogs your arteries, makes you fat and makes you feel like crap amongst many other things. But some people are going to eat it anyway. If there was an E.Coli outbreak linked to hamburger meat used at fast food restaurants and it was making people sick, the correct thing to do would be inform people that may be affected by this, not fucking patronize people that eat fast food and say "Wow! Fast food is bad for you? SHOCKING!"
